New Curbside Recycling Program to be Launched this Fall
Pleasanton will launch a new curbside recycling program this fall. The new program is expected to capture more recyclable material and send less material to the landfill. Collecting and sorting metal, glass, plastic and paper also supports the effort to meet a 75% diversion target adopted by all cities in Alameda County.
The blue bags currently used to separate recycled items will no longer be used. The green waste carts currently used for grass clippings, garden debris and other organic plant material will still be used, and residents will receive a 96-gallon recycling cart for bottles, cans, jars, cardboard, aluminum and paper. Residents may also choose between a 35 or 96-gallon trash cart for waste that is non-recyclable.
A mailer has been sent to residents that describes the program and provides two options for selecting your trash cart service. Please remember to return the response card by June 12th if you are making a change to your current trash cart size. If we don't hear from you, service will be continued at your current trash cart size. For more information, please call Pleasanton Garbage Service at (925) 846-2042.
