Sort, Roll and Go
It's Easy!
Pleasanton has joined Alameda County cities in adopting a number of new recycling programs, including meeting a countywide waste diversion target of 75% by 2010. To meet this target, the Pleasanton City Council approved a new residential curbside recycling program that replaces the current blue bag program with a separate collection cart for recyclable materials. The green waste and food scrap programs will continue without changes. Pleasanton Garbage Service will continue to administer the Residential Recycling Incentive Program in which credits are issued in quarterly billing statements when customers recycle 75 pounds of recyclable material at the Resource Recovery Station on Busch Road.
For the new residential curbside recycling program to be effective, residents are asked to actively participate by sorting recyclable material at home. Since all material placed in the trash cart will be landfilled, your participation in the recycling program is key. Fortunately, it's easy to keep all recyclable material out of the trash cart. Simply use the information on this website to identify those items that should be placed in the recycling container and develop the practice of regularly sorting your discarded material, including food scraps and yard waste.

Important Information Regarding Your Bill
Effective October 1, 2009 your Pleasanton Garbage Service invoice will reflect a rate adjustment approved earlier this year for the city's new residential curbside recycling program.
The rate adjustment covers the cost of establishing a new collection route including additional drivers and new trucks, conversion of the Busch Road Material Recovery Facility to handle presorted recyclable material exclusively, the new additional collection carts and general operating costs related to the new program.
The new residential curbside recycling program will help the city meet a county-wide goal of diverting 75% of all material from the landfill in 2010.
PGS is committed to providing quality services that are responsive to the Pleasanton City Council and Pleasanton residents. If you have any questions please call us at (925) 846-2042 or visit www.pleasantonrecycles.org.
